COMMEMORATING 27 YEARS OF VIETNAM DISABILITY DAY (April 18, 1998 – April 18, 2025)

Continuing the Journey: “Living with Purpose – Living to Contribute”

April 18 each year serves as a heartfelt reminder for the whole society to reflect on the journey of companionship, empathy, and the spread of humanistic values for persons with disabilities — resilient individuals who continually rise above challenges and strive forward in life.

On the occasion of the 27th anniversary of Vietnam Disability Day, the Vietnam Youth with Disabilities Association (VNYDA) extends its deepest gratitude to all organizations and individuals who have steadfastly supported, accompanied, and inspired generations of youth with disabilities across the country.

A heartfelt message from Mr. Nguyen Tuong Lam – Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and President of the Vietnam Youth Federation – along with the care and attention of Youth Union leaders, has brought great encouragement and motivation to all of our members.

The Vietnam Youth Federation Central Committee also sent vibrant floral arrangements and warm wishes to the Association — meaningful symbols of solidarity and support.

Notably, the presence and heartfelt sharing of Ms. Nguyen Kim Quy – Member of the Standing Committee and Head of the Youth Front of the Central Youth Union – and her colleagues at the Association’s headquarters, reflect a clear commitment to the spirit of “leaving no one behind.” Their visit is a powerful source of motivation, helping us move forward with confidence and continue to promote the pioneering role of youth with disabilities in the community — contributing to the building of a truly inclusive and sustainable society.

The Vietnam Young Physicians Association also visited and extended their best wishes.

Their warm presence and genuine encouragement were not only a precious source of emotional support, but also a powerful affirmation of their long-term commitment to public health and improving the quality of life for youth with disabilities. Their visit exemplifies a caring and barrier-free society grounded in compassion and connection.

In his letter to members on this occasion, Mr. Pham Van Thanh, President of the Vietnam Youth with Disabilities Association, shared emotionally:

“These 27 years have shown that persons with disabilities are not only recipients of help, but also individuals capable of contributing, leading, and inspiring.
The Association will continue its tireless efforts to create more opportunities for youth with disabilities to express themselves, showcase their values, and build a united, compassionate, and sustainable community.”

Faith, love, and shared compassion are the most valuable gifts that the Association has been receiving from the community. Each message of encouragement, each bouquet of flowers, each caring glance is more than a gesture — it is a source of strength that empowers youth with disabilities to rise and affirm their own worth.

We believe that inclusion is not only about removing physical barriers, but also about opening our hearts, and taking meaningful action as individuals and organizations. Special days like April 18 offer us the opportunity to connect, understand each other more deeply, and collectively build a Vietnam with no boundaries — where everyone has the right to live, study, work, and contribute equally.

Looking ahead, the Vietnam Youth with Disabilities Association remains committed to being a trusted and welcoming home — where initiatives are nurtured, dreams are supported, and stories of resilience are shared across every corner of the nation.
